Breslin Architects received a “National Award” for this project from the annual Athletic Business Magazine’s Award Program. This facility features a wrap-around addition to the university’s existing athletic facility. The prominent entrance portal leads into a central sky-lit concourse that continues to the back of the building to the new all-weather track and athletic fields. The concourse is a social gathering area for the students and faculty that provides vistas and access to the gymnasiums, fitness and aerobic areas and student lounge. The spacious gym features a running track with roll-down curtains which separate the large space into three smaller stations when needed. On the exterior, the red brick and limestone front façade relates to other campus buildings and creates a unifying vocabulary of materials.
