Breslin Architects was challenged with converting former tenant spaces into a cutting-edge Nursing Simulation Center and Health Assessment Lab. To enable new undergraduate and graduate level nursing programs at Cedar Crest College, dynamic learning environments have been equipped to accommodate the latest advances in nursing education.
A focal point for the new Nursing Simulation Center is the Study Lounge. This space creates a strong physical and visual link to existing program spaces and provides an environment for student collaboration.
At its heart, the Center includes three Simulation Labs, including an Operating Room Simulation Lab, that each incorporates an advanced patient simulator. This will allow students to integrate theory and practice with no risk to the patients. The Debriefing Room provides space for faculty and students to view recordings and debrief post-simulation.
The Health Assessment Lab is designed with ten patient bays wrapped around a central classroom environment. The space has been designed to promote ease of interaction between students and faculty and to allow for a seamless flow between the lab and classroom environments.
